A massage for stress-relieve, even if administered by yourself will go great lengths to alleviating stress, which is the number one cause of stiff and sore neck muscles, painful shoulders and backache. Stress is the leading cause of palpitations, hyperventilation, increased blood pressure and various types of headaches. The Hellerwork massage is often used as a preventative massage for stress.

Massages have been proven over the years to benefit mind, body and soul by creating an atmosphere of calm and restfulness and taking the mind of the daily tensions and anxieties.

Anxiety and hyperventilation are reduced with massage. White blood cells increase and therefore show an enhanced immune system. Cancer patients benefit from therapeutic massage which reduces anxiety and pain, as was found by the James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute.

The University of South Carolina found that therapeutic massage helped women who experienced the loss of a child were not as depressed. Massage also helps to improve weight gain in infants that are HIV-exposed and is also beneficial to the recovery of abdominal surgery patients.

There are many benefits of massage for stress. It helps to decrease blood pressure and heart rate in hypertension sufferers and alleviating migraines. It also helps to improve alertness and improved performance.

Whilst massage cannot enhance muscle strength, it can certainly arouse frail dormant muscles and also balance out the lack of activity due to infirmity or injury. Massage also speeds up recovery after a touch training session or sports injury.

Research on autistic children proved that massages helped them behave less erratically. Premature babies benefited from massage and gained weight more quickly. Burn patients experienced less pain, itching, tension and anxiety when they were massaged.

Office workers who received massage for stress reported better performance, less stress and higher alertness. Doctors report that stress is the cause of up to 90% of ailments that bring people into the physician\’s office. People miss the old school tough of a caring doctor or nurse.

The physical benefits of a good therapeutic massage include: stress relieve, muscle relaxation, healing of injured muscles, flexibility of joints, easier and deeper breathing, improved posture, reduced eye-strain and reduced blood pressure.

Mental alertness, peace of mine and heightened mind-body awareness are only some of the mental benefits of massage for stress.

Nothing beats a foot massage for stress. Try this yourself by relaxing your foot completely and then soaking both feet in a foot spa or bath of hot water. Add a drop of peppermint oil, which benefits the circulation and also boasts anti-inflammatory as well as antiseptic properties. Relax your body completely by taking deep slow breathes and closing your eyes, letting no negative thoughts or anxiety seep in. After 20 minutes, dry the feet in a soft towel. Gently squeeze the muscles of the calves to relieve muscle stiffness and rotate the ankles five times and stroke the anklebones gently with your fingers. Work all the thumb pads using a press-release motion all over the surface of the foot.

Massage therapy is beneficial in particular to those who have suffered sickness, injury or trauma, whilst massage for stress should be part of the daily regime for everyone.

We offer stress relieving Toronto massages that are guaranteed to leave you relaxed and happy. Find out where you can enjoy our Toronto massage!

Spa is a little town, with less than 11000 people, but is still well known as a city of a wide variety of distinctions. Spa is located in Belgium and is known to be Europe’s oldest health resort, as well as being the world’s first Casino. Simply Amazing.

Due to its fascinating history, the thermal springs in spa have come to be known as The Caf Of Europe. It has had many visits, dating back to the 16th centuries, by people of all kinds, even Kings. The natural source of water which runs throughout Spa is unrivalled and is even thought to have health beneficial qualities.

Although currently Spa does not attract such a wide crowd, it is still widely known for its bottled mineral water, which is still one of biggest sellers across the globe. Spa is still known for its cycling community and cross-country skiing, and the ice skating that takes place during the winters.

If you are into museums, then the laundry museum is not one for you to miss. Consisting of 25 rooms which will show you the evolution of washing machines from its first to current day, the transitions that you will be exposed to will have your mind ticking in over time.

Although it is considered old fashioned, the town does in no way come up short in terms of having the ability to entertain its much loved tourist. With such a beautiful landscape and a culture to be mesmerised by, there is no reason why every moment cannot be cherished.

If you love to drink then you must know that beer is 2nd to none on the diet of the Belgians. So if you are the type to be looking for a few messy events, you can be certain Belgium shall not be of any disappointment.

With an adventure awaiting you, and plenty for you to get involved with. Why not make the town of Spa be this years summer vacation.

Stress may have a lot of different effects on our bodies, but only one of them is really deadly dangerous: high blood pressure. While high blood pressure does not need to be an effect of stress, this is the most common reason – and the potentially deadly effects of high blood pressure are too well-known to discuss them here.

If you feel stressed, think about problems that cause it. Is it really worth endangering your very life for an increase in salary or a better car? High blood pressure may end in a heart attack and a painful death – and there is simply nothing worth it. You simply have to solve it once and for all. Talk with someone about your problems and make sure you will have some assistance and backup when you start actually coping with what haunts you.

If you’re in doubt or if you have no one to talk to, you can always call your family doctor. First of all, he will know a lot of ways to avoid stress or minimize its effects. Then, if he thinks it is a right idea, he will also prescribe you some nerve pills to cool you down and let you solve your problems.

Then, remember that even if you get rid of stress once, it may still return. If you want to get rid of stress for good, you have to change your attitude towards yourself and life. For one, you have be a little more relaxed and never let anything but the most crucial matters to stress you. Negative thinking and inventing problems instead of solutions will get you nowhere but to the hospital.

We all live in stressful times and the world around us is far from being warm and friendly. However, those who don’t allow problems get to them and consume their lives are those who are able to make a difference and improve their lives and the fate of their neighborhood, town or even country. Other will be too worried and will feel down so much that they will have no strength left to actually do something. Life is too short to be lost on just worrying about things one can’t change.

The Author: John Andrews writes about stress and how to combat it it naturally, without prescription meds or drugs. For more information and detailed studies on how to achieve natural stress relief, go to: Natural Stress Relief.

Last week I went with my girlfriend to get her hair done. She had spent a considerable amount of time driving me around while I was getting my car worked on, so I kind of owed her. It’s one of those give and take things that are necessary for a healthy relationship.

While we were waiting for her turn, I kept dozing off. She kept elbowing me in the gut to wake me up. But when she was actually getting her hair done, I was a mess. Afterwards she asked why I had stayed up so late the night before. When I told her I had gotten my normal eight hours, she became worried.

When she was a kid, her dad would snore incredibly loud, keeping the whole family up the entire night. Finally when they convinced him he’d had a problem, he went to the doctor to get it checked out. Turned out he had sleep apnea, which is when you stop breathing while you are sleeping. This is dangerous.

The doctor went over all the symptoms with the family. Common ones are sleepiness during the day, headaches, frequent waking up to go to the bathroom, and so on. Lucky they were able to find a solution. Most people don’t know about the dangers that come with undiagnosed sleep apnea.

What worried my girlfriend was the fact that I was nodding off so quickly despite thinking I’d gotten a good nights sleep the night before. One of the classic sleep apnea symptoms is feeling tired when you are bored, even though you think you’ve gotten a full nights sleep.

The doctor told me it was too early to tell. He suggested I pay close attention to my feelings and my sleep the next few days, and to look out for symptoms like daytime headaches, and waking up during the night for no reason. Then he can figure out an appropriate treatment.

To finally do something about your apnea symptoms, and get a good nights sleep, point your browser at Chester Umber’s sleep resource page today.

As Americans are faced with increasing incidences of high blood pressure and hypertension, the importance of understanding how to stay healthy is more important than ever. There are certain risk factors that we need to be aware of, but the most important thing we can do is to monitor our blood pressure, both at home and through visits with the primary care doctor.

If you are diagnosed with high blood pressure, which is 140/90 and up, your doctor will give you advice to lower and monitor your blood pressure and not heeding the advice from the doctor could, frankly, be the difference between life and death. For this reason listening to your doctor is imperative.

To get your blood pressure lower or under control there are some things that will be need to be done working together with your doctor. You will do a stress test to see your heart function and to make sure you are in no imminent danger and along with that exercise suited to your needs, a diet to follow and if he deems necessary medication.

After changing the way you live, you will also have to ensure that the changes made will be effective. That means you will need to know how to use a home blood pressure monitor and keep track of the readings. However, it will still be necessary to work with a professional so that you at least are sure of taking the readings right.

When advised or prescribed the use of an at home blood pressure monitor, you have two types to choose from. Fingertip or wrist monitors are one of the common choices, but are poor because they are not accurate, and studies have shown that they are not the best tool. It is much better to go with a standardized cuff.

The standard blood pressure monitors come in two different styles and one of them is the aneroid monitor. This is the kind you often see at the doctor and it has an arm cuff that air is pumped into until full. This type is the least expensive, but they are also very sensitive and prone to breaking. Not only that, but you will also need a stethoscope in order to listen for when to take the readings.

Digital monitors have become the more popular choice. A little more pricey, these monitors are more durable, and come equipped with memory to track blood pressure. They are also able to print the information with some models.

The blood pressure monitors have different price ranges, but you should still get the best model that is within your budget. This way you will have the most accurate results possible and the monitor will also last longer. When it comes to your health, you shouldn’t be cheap.

Working together with your doctor and keep a record of your results so he can know beforehand if you are at risk for other health problems is important and your blood pressure monitor is an excellent way to help keep your health intact.

by Steve Brodie

If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or have been living with the condition for some time, then you will understand what it is like to live in the shadow of this silent killer. Suffering from hypertension is no small thing ” high blood pressure is a leading cause of chronic renal failure, heart attack and stroke.

The worst thing you can do if you have high blood pressure is to continue on just as normal and hope for the best, its a sure-fired way to shorten your lifespan drastically. Popping a pill and continuing as ever is another bad option because you will be just suppressing a symptom without dealing with the cause. The first thing that should be done when looking at how to lower blood pressure is a thorough assessment of your lifestyle and to change those aspects that are leading you to hypertension.

The extent to which high blood pressure can be cured and prevented depend on a number of factors, namely the current blood pressure, alterations in organs such as the kidney and heart, the risk of cardiovascular disease and the age of the person. Non-pharmaceutical and lifestyle options should always be considered first before drugs are administered unless there is a very severe case of hypertension present.

Changes in lifestyle are the beginning of managing hypertension and pre-hypertension. The best chance for dealing with the disorder lies in lifestyle changes because hypertension is usually a symptom of bad lifestyle choices. Usually blood pressure medication is taken for life, so hypertensive patients should explore all natural and lifestyle options before any medications are used.

The first thing to deal with is weight. Weight reduction is a key issue in blood pressure and coupled with regular light exercise like walking is the first step to treating hypertension. Your blood flow will be improved by regular exercise and it will also reduce your resting heart rate and blood pressure. Low intensity exercise is generally held to be more effective than high intensity exercise when dealing with hypertension.

Reducing your intake of dietary sugar and salt is the next key thing for high blood pressure. Reducing your salt intake is particularly important, and is quite effective at lowering blood pressure. Many of the recommended dietary changes are common sense for a healthy lifestyle ” eating fruit and vegetable rich foods and low fat dairy products. Increasing your daily calcium and potassium intakes also benefit your blood pressure by offsetting the effects of salt in the kidneys which acts to reduce blood pressure here.

Stopping smoking and drinking is also another important factor. Blood pressure increases following alcohol and nicotine consumption, and over use may lead to a more severe hypertensive state. Aside from the obvious health risks associating with cigarettes, blood pressure patients are especially warned to quit because of the increased risk of heart attack and stroke. It is also recommended to stop caffeine intake, especially coffee, as it will increase blood pressure, though it does not produce hypertension, it can aggravate existing conditions.

Stress reduction is another important factor. Stress is known to cause an increase in blood pressure, so practicing breathing techniques and relaxation therapy like meditation can be very helpful in ameliorating high blood pressure. Recognising and reducing environmental stress agents such as high noise levels and over-lit areas in your home are also important for dealing with high blood pressure.

Medication should be the last resort. You can beat hypertension naturally and stay in control of the disorder. Saying goodbye to hypertension for good is not a dream ” there are many natural remedies and cures which when coupled with the lifestyle changes above can do the trick.

If you have high blood pressure or other heart disease, tracking your blood pressure can be important to your health. Home blood pressure monitors are not very expensive, especially if you buy the manual rather than the digital kind.

It is of utmost importance to ensure that the cuff fits your arm. This can especially be a problem for those with particularly small or large arms, since the readings given by the blood pressure monitor might not be accurate. People with large arms need to buy an extra large cuff size and for children you need a pediatric or extra small cuff.

Protect your monitor to keep it safe from damage. Store it in a protective case when not in use. Don’t let it get too hot like it might in a locked car on a hot day. If you drop the monitor, check it against another monitor to make sure it is still accurate. Check your cuff and tubing for cracks and leaks before each use. Be careful not to submerge your blood pressure monitor in water.

There are some things you should make sure of before taking your blood pressure. The first being that a blood pressure reading must be taken while in a resting position, which means no movements, unless your doctor instructs you to do otherwise. It is also recommended to take it under the same conditions each time. This would mean you should avoid exercising, eating or smoking for a minimum of thirty minutes before you take your blood pressure.

During the reading you should not move while the device is still on. Movements made during the blood pressure test will cause inaccuracies in the reading. Cell phones also affect the accuracy and should be kept away while you are checking your blood pressure with a monitor.

When taking your blood pressure if for any reason it seems unusual or incorrect, then you should always retake it just to be on the safe side. Before you do, however, you have to wait a few minutes. When you do the test again also start over completely, which means you have to remove the arm cuff before you measure your blood pressure.

All blood pressure monitors should be checked periodically for accuracy. The best way to do that is to take your blood pressure monitor with you to the doctor’s office so your doctor can take your blood pressure with his equipment and yours at the same time so you can compare results.

It cannot be emphasized enough that you should be consistent in your routine when it comes to taking your blood pressure. Any changes such as climbing up the stairs can elevate the reading versus if you took it while resting. Your blood pressure does rise and fall throughout the day, but your activities can also affect the outcome of the reading.

Some blood pressure monitors will store your results in memory but it doesn’t hurt to write your results in a blood pressure diary also. That way you can jot notes about your health at the time and if you were relaxed at the time of the reading. The more information you supply to your doctor, the better diagnosis and treatment he will be able to give to you.

Ready to take responsibility for monitoring your blood pressure at home? This is something that many people with a variety of health conditions find to be a very valuable practice. Now you can take your blood pressure at home, simply and easily. Just get a blood pressure cuff and learn how to use it. One good brand is Omron, a manufacturer or professional quality medical equipment for home use.

Omron is one of the most popular brands of automatic blood pressure monitors, and doctors recommend them to their patients who need to take their blood pressure at home on a regular basis.
To manage your blood pressure right, you must calculate your average blood pressure. Unless you like writing these numbers out on paper, you may use your Omron automatic blood pressure monitor and get a mean of your last 3 readings. Since you’ll always have an average, you will be able to manage your blood pressure more easily and notice readings that are outside the norm.

In addition to tracking the average of the last 3 readings, your Omron heart pressure monitor will store the actual readings for your last 90 measurements. This will let you see the long-term changes that may be taking place, and make it easy to report in to your doctor about what trends youv’e noticed at home.

If you choose to buy the Omron automatic blood pressure monitor, you’ll get a Comfit cuff, for cosy measurement and a convenient capability to fit arms up to 17′.
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is described as the force the heart must use to pump blood through the arteries and veins. Your systolic pressure represents the force on the arteries, while the diastolic pressure is the pressure in the vessels between beats. Normal blood pressure runs around 120/80.

Many patients are unaware of the onset of primary hypertension as the symptoms are commonly mild and nonspecific. With this being the case, it is no wonder it has been labeled the ‘silent killer.” If gone undetected, a Hypertensive crisis may occur in which a stroke or heart attack will be the result. In these cases, fatality may be the end result.

People who have high blood pressure complain of headaches, shortness of breath, dizziness, and fatigue. Headache is a common complaint and is not remedied after taking high blood pressure medication. Head blood flow is increased, putting a strain on blood vessels in the brain. Headache caused by hypertension does not go away with over the counter pain medications. The pain pulsates behind the eyes and manifests during the morning hours. Increased blood circulation causes the heart to pump out more amount of blood than usual, causing heart palpitations, blurred vision, white spots or blindness.

Of the people who have high blood pressure, approximately 1% have what is known as malignant hypertension. This is considered a medical emergency and needs immediate care to prevent heart attack or stroke. Hypertension may go untreated for years because the person may not even know they have high blood pressure. This can result in damage to the heart, eyes or kidneys, as well as lead to angina pain. To avoid any complications of high blood pressure is to prevent or control it with the help of your doctor and a health diet consisting of fresh vegetables, fruits, wholegrain and low-fat dairy products.

There are some forms of hypertension caused by stress. If you are someone who is constantly exposed to this risk factor, it is highly important for you to determine which stress you must live with and which you can dump aside. Life is full of everyday stresses such as our children, however taking on the worries and stresses of our coworkers or the lady behind the coffee counter is not something our bodies need to contend with. Know what your limits are.

People who are overweight run a greater risk of obtaining high blood pressure. In order to prevent or manage this, it is recommended that patients maintain a healthy weight for their frame and height. Other contributing factors include smoking and drinking alcohol. These common past times can have long term adverse affects on the body. Making healthy, wise choices can ensure a long and happy life.
