Since Colotox seems to becoming more popular (or at least it has been more heavily marketed lately) I figured it was time for me to do a review. The results were less than stellar for Colotox as you’ll soon find out. The product seems ok, but where it gets really ugly is when I looked into the company behind Colotox.
In terms of ingredients, Colotox is a pretty run of the mill product. It has the regular colon cleansing (fiber based) ingredients that many others have. I don’t why one couldn’t expect the product to function as it’s supposed to. So the product itself seems fine, it’s the business practices that have me worried.
Where the review started to go downhill is when I saw the first signs of a sneaky autoship program. If you sign up for the free trial (which is the only option they give you if you want the product) then you are automatically enrolled in the autoship. This means that you have 14 days to call and cancel the program or you will start being charged $38.95 per month as new product is shipped to you every month. What? You didn’t notice that you agreed to that? Well it’s in the fine print of the terms and conditions that they’re counting on you not reading. I’ve seen this scam many times now and am amazed at how pitiful of a marketing tactic this is. Shame on Colotox.
It was even more alerted when I saw their return policy. It appears that you are charged a 15% restocking fee for all returned items. And according to some of the complaint boards on the internet, there have been quite a few that have had a hard time even contacting the company to request a refund.
To get a better feel for the company behind the product, I’ve found the Better Business Bureau to be a pretty good source. In Colotox’s case, the BBB didn’t seem too sympathetic. They rated them as an ‘F.’ In addition, I found a complaint filed with Arizona Attorney General’s office that said that the company behind Colotox (Central Coast Nutraceuticals Inc.) was engaging in deceptive and misleading advertising and sales practices.
By now, I don’t think that it’s any mystery what my overall thoughts are concerning Colotox. The ingredient profile may be ok, but their business practices certainly are not. If you’re looking at buying a colon cleanser, you’d be wise to steer clear of Colotox; there are plenty of other reputable companies to buy from.
