Review of Colon Cleanse Pro
Written by Peter Wood on March 6th, 2009Colon Cleanse Pro has seen an increase in popularity lately due to it being heavily marketed on the internet. This brief version of my full review will look into the company the makes Colon Cleanse Pro as well the product itself to help you see some things that many have otherwise been missed. I think you’ll be surprised by what you see.
When visiting their website you’ll quickly see a marketing tactic that’s often used to add credibility to the product but that’s quite deceiving. They’ve posted logos of the Oprah magazine, USA Today, MSNBC, and CBS News in an attempt you make you think that Colon Cleanse Pro was somehow mentioned on or endorsed by these programs. At first glance, that’s what it looks like, but if you read the quotes next to the logos, you’ll see that they mention the colon or colon cleansing in some form, but say nothing about the Colon Cleanse Product itself. Above the logos it says “Colon Cleanse in the Talk of Media.” Note, however that it does not say Colon Cleanse Pro (although they want you to assume that).
Another red flag is that they don’t state anywhere on the site what any of the ingredients are that make up Colon Cleanse Pro. This is certainly a cause for concern since there’s no way to verify or judge if the product will work as advertised. I can obviously assume that there is fiber of some sort in there since most colon cleansers do, but I can’t go any further than that.
Now on to the good part, the company behind the product. There were pretty bright red flags that popped up in my research which I think you should know about. First off, their (not so much of a) privacy policy made me worry. In a nutshell, it states that they have the right to “sell, rent, lease, or otherwise provide the personal information that you provide to us, to any third party.” Ouch! In today’s world, this is simply unacceptable.
I next went to the Better Business Bureau to get their report of Colon Cleanse Pro. They gave the company an ‘F’ rating. In addition to such a poor rating, the BBB had apparently tried to contact Colon Cleanse Pro in 2008 to discuss how they could fix the complaint problems. They failed to respond to the request..
The first thing that you’ll notice when you visit the Colon Cleanse Pro website is that big free trial that they offer. And while there may be some legitimate free trial offers out there, most of the ones that I’ve seen have been a way to lure people into a scam. In Colon Cleanse Pro’s case? Smells like a scam to me. If you read in the fine print in the terms and conditions, you’ll see that by getting a free trial, you also agree to enroll in their autoship program. This basically means that if you don’t cancel within 15 days fo your order you will charged $69.98 and they will start shipping you new product every month and charging you the $69.98. I’ve read many complaints that it has been very hard for people to actually cancel this program and before they know it, they’ve been charged quite large amounts. Do yourself a favor, and make sure that you read all the fine print so that you know what you’re getting yourself into.
But as long as you cancel within the 15 days, you’re ok right? Well, in theory, yes. The problem arises when it’s more difficult than you think to cancel. I thought I’d try Colon Cleanse Pro’s customer service by calling them. What happened? They didn’t even answer my phone call. Maybe it was a fluke, but it certainly doesn’t instill any confidence that I’ll have any easy time returning the product.
In conclusion, Colon Cleanse Pro has scam written all over it. Aside from the fact that we don’t know what’s in the product, they use shady marketing tactics. It looks to me like they plan on you not reading the terms, getting you your trial and then racking up the charges on your credit card. Consider yourself warned. Do your homework and don’t fall prey to tactics like the ones that Colon Cleanse Pro uses.
