Pain induces the type of discomfort that does not allow you to indulge in any activity comfortably or to focus on your daily activities. If someone is suffering from arthritis pain, tendonitis pain, a headache, back pain or any type of pain, they will want to find relief as quick as they possibly can so that they can once again get back to their normal activities. If you have been lucky enough not to have any type of pain, and then you acquire some kind of pain, you recognize how lucky you have been, because some pains can totally restrict you from certain types of activities.

Do Pain Relief Creams Work?

Yes and no, depending on the kind of pain you have, but in the largest part, pain relief creams will provide effective and quick relief. There are all kinds of pain relief creams that will work on the unique pain that you are suffering from, and the most common pains are the: back and joint pain, headache, muscle ache and of course arthritis pain.

Pain relief creams work on initial stages mostly when your pain is not chronic. The best part about cream pain relievers are that they target the region of the pain when compared to drugs that have to be distributed into your whole system, but the cream pain reliever must be rubbed into the skin completely to be totally effective and work the quickest.

Different Types Of Pain Relief Creams

Some of the most sought after pain relief creams are the natural types, which are powerful enough to provide you relief and does not have any side effects. If you are suffering from any type of serious health issues, make sure you check with your doctor, but you can purchase most pain relief creams over the counter because they don’t contain any antibiotics.

For the most part there are not any side effects when using pain reliever creams, but you can possibly acquire a rash if you have sensitive skin, but the rash should disappear without any type of medication, but if it does want to persist make sure that you call your doctor. Try not to apply more pain relief cream then indicated on the tube of the cream as some are strong enough to produce a light burn of the top layer of the skin where applied; using more cream will not get rid of the pain faster but can create more damage.

Some Other Tips

A lot of pain relieving creams have a very potent smell and can leave marks on the garments or bed sheets, to avoid both look for odorless, non-oily creams to relieve your pains and aches without the mess.

One of the most common parts affected by arthritis are the joints of the knees, and wearing knee braces is an age old technique for reducing the often excruciating pain caused by arthritis.

by Amy Clark

One of the most common parts affected by arthritis are the joints of the knees, and wearing knee braces is an age old technique for reducing the often excruciating pain caused by arthritis. Such braces can control the pressure on the leg and knee, gradually aligning the leg in the right position to reduce arthritis pain.

Arthritis knee braces can be grouped into two generic classes – custom-made and off-the-shelf. “Off the shelf” entails selecting the appropriate knee braces from a ready-made set, whereas “custom-made” involves having braces designed based on precise condition and targeting your unique knee requirements. Not surprisingly custom made knee braces are more costly than the off-the-shelf braces. On the other hand, a custom made knee brace is considerably better, as it is tailored to address the patient’s own condition. Along with arthritis knee braces, shoe type is also crucial to gauge your body pressure on your knees. The particular shoes you wear may either make your pain worse or improve it considerable.

In addition to these two broad types, arthritis knee braces can also be classified into four types.

An off-loader arthritis knee brace, otherwise known as an unloader, is normally used to improve knee alignment. Off-loader knee braces support the knee by lessening the varus (valgus) stress from the knees, or the abnormal mechanical alignment on one side of the knee.

Prophylactic knee braces, meanwhile, are worn typically by individuals with knee injuries, such as sports injuries.

Conversely, rehabilitative braces are used to improve lateral and medial mobility. These braces likewise enhance the flexion & extension of the knee joint subsequent to a knee injury or a related surgery.

OA knee braces, as their name implies, are worn especially by OA (Osteoarthritis) patients. OA knee braces manage pain by enabling proper knee alignment.

On the whole, these braces are an affordable and effective method of reducing joint pain of the knees. Arthritis knee braces have been known to work for several arthritis patients. Nonetheless, there is still some concern about their efficiency.

Some groups insist that these braces are only a momentary treatment to a long-lasting condition, and often delay the requirement for knee surgery. The artificial support of these knee braces can debilitate the knee and leg muscles, which may consequently bring about permanent weakness and all the more deteriorate the patient’s condition.

However, numerous patients swear that regular use of arthritis knee braces effectively work in promoting proper alignment, restraining your body weight on the knee, and even significantly relieving pain.

Ideally, the results of brace use are dependent on the uniqueness of each case and must not be oversimplified. One’s overall health, body constitution, plus the extent of the disease, and other factors, can affect the outcome of knee brace use.

In picking out the right braces for you, always consider your own requirements. The exact type of brace you need depend on the amount of your pain or the state of your condition. The more serious the injury, the larger the knee braces required. Off-the-shelf braces are equally as reliable as custom-made ones, unless you have a specific pain/area to treat or a quite irregular knee shape.

It is always imperative that you seek the advice of a doctor first to identify the right knee brace type for your condition. Always consult a qualified doctor before deciding on any type of treatment, be it medicinal drugs or alternate therapies or knee braces.

Dr. Nafthali Primor, of Shulov Institute for Sciences, Ltd. was the first to propose the venom of snakes as a potent natural method to relieve arthritis pain.

by Amy Clark

Dr. Nafthali Primor, of Shulov Institute for Sciences, Ltd. was the first to propose the venom of snakes as a potent natural method to relieve arthritis pain.

Dr. Nafthali Primor and his research team have discovered some powerful substances in the venom of diverse species of cobras, vipers, and rattle snakes. These can be effective as analgesics for debilitating pain due to several diseases, including cancer and particularly arthritis which usually sets off debilitating pain.

Snake Venom Use

Though Primor’s study was the first official recognition of the healing properties of snake venom, the idea has been popular for years. Long before Dr. Primor published his study, there were already reports of successful arthritis treatment through snake bites.

The earliest publicized case was that of a sixty-six year old Englishman with chronic arthritis. Bitten by a snake, he proclaimed on the BBC news channel in 2002 that his finger joint pain was eliminated at least 3-4 weeks after the bite. Unfortunately, the pain returned afterward, initially only mildly for 2 months, and then returning in full force in the ensuing months. Soon enough, the snake bite phenomenon were noticed by some groups at that time.

Snake Venom and Dr. Nafthali Primor

Even at a young age, Primor already claimed a certain attraction to snakes. Primor easily became fascinated with the curative properties of snake venom. Perhaps this is why he was fated to ultimately uncover snake venom remedies for arthritis.

Back in the 80s, Dr. Shulov revealed to Nafthali Primor that Russians have been using snake venom creams to manage chronic pain. This information encouraged Primor to do further research on the concept.

Arthritis Treatment with Snake Venom

The original pain analgesic invented was the VeP-3, which was taken from the venom of Palestinian Vipers. Primor documented that of the thousand or so molecules present in the snake venom, just 4-5 molecules are actually venomous. This means that at least 99 percent of snake venom is safe and consequently can be utilized for a range of medicinal possibilities.

Primor presently aims to invent a snake venom pain relief salve to specifically target arthritis pain. He cites as an example a “super aspirin” drug created by Merck & Company called “Aggrastat”, which prevents has been reported to prevent blood clots and heart attacks. Aggrastat is also based on snake venom.

To date, snake venom arthritis methods have infinite possibilities. Researchers continue to develop techniques with which snake venom can be effectively and safely incorporated in a variety of medicinal potentials. Scientific studies also aim to create a superlative cream that will ultimately cure arthritis. For the meantime, while we wait for further breakthroughs relating to snake venom use, please don’t endanger your body by trying to get snake bites on your own.

by Amy Clark

Injecting Synvisc into the region of the body (usually the knee) affected by osteoarthritis (OA) is named Synvisc therapy. Synvisc is essentially an elastic vicious chemical that is infused via injection into the afflicted body part to protect and lubricate the joints. This type of treatment is prescribed only to people who have already obtained more conservative treatment modes (such as painkillers, physical therapy, to name a few).

Synvisc

Synvisc is not regarded as a medicinal drug, but is rather a device. Synvisc is derived from hyaluronan, a natural chemical found in all living tissues of your body. It exists in especially high levels in the fluid of knee joints as well as the general joint tissue.

Hyaluronan, which functions as a powerful shock absorber & lubricant, is necessary for knee mobility. Synvisc injections are a potent arthritis treatment because arthritics have deficient hyaluronan levels in the body.

Synvisc Knee Injections

Presently, the only type of Synvisc therapy available is synvisc knee injections. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) only permits administering Synvisc in the knee and only for osteoarthritis (OA) cases. The FDA asserts that this is because the safety and efficacy of Synvisc for other areas of the body and for other conditions have yet to be proven. So, to reiterate, Synvisc therapy is applicable only for patients with knee arthritis, not for shoulder arthritis or any other arthritis case.

Synvisc injections are administered in 3 distinct sessions, each at least a week apart. Medical studies have established that a total of 3 injections, each spaced one week apart, is the best approach pain relief. You are recommended to obtain all of the injections to reap the full potential of synvisc therapy.

Potential Side Effects of Synvisc

Several safety tests were conducted on Synvisc therapy before using it clinically on human subjects. Study results point out that synvisc is noninflammatory, nonantigenic, and non-toxic. So far, it has been administered on millions of people with arthritis.

Generally speaking, synvisc therapy doesn’t have any side effects. On the other hand, because synvisc is injected directly into the joint, there are isolated cases where patients experienced some swelling, discomfort, or pain in or around the knee. But note that this is very rare and the risks involved are only minimal.

Exercising or doing any strenuous activity is forbidden in the first 48 hours following the synvisc injection. Playing tennis, running, heavy lifting, or any activity that may put stress on the knee is strictly not recommended.

Synvisc Therapy and its Benefits

Keep in mind that synvisc injections are by no means a definite cure for arthritis. Actually, to date, there is no known cure for arthritis. That being said, synvisc therapy is effective in relieving joint pain, and its pain relief effects can last for a minimum of half a year. In addition, this therapy will work in combination with other medications or other modes of treatment, and you don’t require a prescription to get it.

If you have experienced more traditional modes of treatment for knee arthritis, and yet you continue to experience acute discomfort and/or severe pain in your knee, then synvisc may be an ideal idea for you. Ponder your options, call your physician, and get expert advice regarding synvisc treatment.

Do you have arthritis and urgently looking for a cure? If your answer is yes, then this article may help you.

First of all, let me share with you something that may help manage your symptoms as well as improve your condition. Did you have any idea that most people actually suffer from a serious calcium deficiency? Although milk and dairy products are already a part of our daily diet, most individuals still fail to consume the required quantity of calcium needed by the human body.

Nutra Joint is the solution you’ve been looking for. Ever heard of it? Nutra Joint is a quite familiar supplement that you can purchase from grocery stores in boxes of individual packets. A dose of Nutra Joint every day can considerably reduce – if not entirely eliminate – the pains, aches, and stiffness and other symptoms of arthritis.

Knox gelatin is useful to manage and in due course eliminate arthritis. How does knox gelatin works? Well, knox gelatin structure is nearly identical to collagen type 2 structure, which makes up our body’s connective tissues, including including our cartilage’s connective tissues.

On the other hand, there are some concerns about the use of knox gelatin in treating arthritis. There are those who argue that since knox gelatin is derived from animals, it might not be applicable to vegans as well as various religious organizations. If such is the case, fruit pectin is considered as an alternative option, because fruit pectin is a fruit derivative.

In addition, the Arthritis Foundation approves of knox gelatin as an effective treatment when taken with calcitonin. Further, German researchers have reported a successful outcome from gelatin treatment. While the Arthritis Foundation supposes that even the use of placebos may control arthritic symptoms, the increasing proof of the efficiency of knox gelatin in arthritis treatment cannot be discounted.

On the whole, it is generally accepted that gelatin is safe and effective to use in treating arthritis. Most patients have confirmed a substantial decrease in chronic pain after gelatin use.

Documented side effects like allergic reactions or upset stomachs are spotty at best. Those who already have allergies to certain animals from which the gelatin is derived may possibly experience mild allergic reactions and should avoid using it.

Nonetheless, excluding these isolated cases, the general consensus is that knox gelatin is definitely safe and highly beneficial in treating arthritis.

by Amy Clark

One of the most common conditions affecting several people regardless of age is arthritis knee pain – specifically Osteoarthritis (a.k.a. OA) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (a.k.a. RA). In spite of all advances in modern science, there is still no long-term cure for all forms of arthritis knee pain.

Although there are certain physical therapy programs and various exercises intended to control pain to a certain extent, the outcome depends mostly on the extent of pain and the severity of arthritis afflicting the patient, among several other factors.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

A popular type of arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis (RA), which at first appears with joint stiffness or soreness in the knees, feet, hands, and elbows. Frequently, the stiffness will begin in both sides. Ultimately, the individual will experience flu and fatigue, along with aches and pains and joint inflammation.

Osteoarthritis (OA)

In contrast, if pain is experienced in any joint immediately after a repetitive action, this could indicate a different type of arthritis called Osteoarthritis or OA. For example, a long-term professional athlete may one day experience pain in the knee without any apparent reason. An X-ray can uncover any knee cartilage problems, which can weaken the joints and inhibit them from sticking together.

Osteoarthritis (OA) often afflicts the back, hips, fingers, and neck. Misshapen or swollen fingers are tell-tale signs of the disease. In extreme cases, patients with OA may find it extremely difficult if not downright impossible to do even common actions such as standing up, walking, or sitting down. In such cases, hip replacement surgery is deemed necessary.

There are a number of risk factors involved in osteoarthritis. Women have a higher risk of developing the disease compared to men. In addition, obesity, age, and stress are also believed to play a role.

Arthritis Knee Pain Treatment Methods

A popular concept in arthritis treatment is the use of knee braces, either off-the-shelf or custom-made. Off-the-shelf knee braces are those that fit in your knee, whilst custom-made types are more expensive and devised to fit your knee as well as your specific condition.

Though prescribed meds may help manage pain, they are rarely able to get rid of it entirely. However, new medications are being touted to curb chronic pain due to arthritis. Along with the usual medications, doctors may recommend salves and creams for oral application. NSAIDs or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are usually the first choice for most physicians. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis are often given biologics or anti-rheumatic medications, which may be injected regularly to restore the patient’s normal bodily functions.

An additional technique that has been known to effectively inhibit the progression of RA is regular knee exercises, like cycling, walking, and swimming. Regular knee exercise programs can help restore or improve the function of the joints. Such exercise programs don’t need to be stressful, as even simple exercises may work wonders for the joints. Rigorous exercises that may aggravate or damage your joints should be completely avoided.

In severe cases, knee surgeries and chemotherapy may be the last recourse. Alternative treatment methods like acupuncture and magnetic pulse therapy, to name a few, have also become popular at present, thanks to the many users who attest to their effectiveness.

In conclusion, if you want to try either alternative or standard therapies for arthritis knee pain, it’s imperative that you seek advice from your physician before doing anything.

Arthritis is a disease characterized by an abnormal inflammation in the human body's joints or articulations. The elbows, hips, fingers and knees are the primary targets of arthritis.

by Amy Clark

Arthritis is an affliction described as the development of an abnormal inflammation of the human body’s articulations or joints. The hips, elbows, fingers and knees are commonly affected by this disease.

Kinds of Arthritis

Arthritis occurs in different forms. Osteoarthritis (OA), the most common form of arthritis, is caused mostly by the aging process, but may also happen as a consequence of some lesions, malformations, or infections, of the knee. Less common but just as devastating forms of arthritis are the following: psoriatic arthritis, gouty arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Treatment Options for Arthritis

Various types of treatment are available for arthritis symptom management. These can range from physical therapy, medications, to surgical procedures.

The latter, called collectively as arthritis knee surgery, has a variety of more specialized kinds – including, knee osteotomy, arthroscopy, and knee replacement surgery. The exact kind of arthritis surgery is based on many factors, including the extent and severity of the pain.

What is Knee Arthritis Surgery?

Depending on the severity of the disease, the most recommended option for treatment is often arthritis knee surgery.

This disease often progresses in parts, slowly damaging the cartilage tissues in the joints. In the early part of the disease, anti-inflammation therapies and physical exercise programs are the main treatment modes. However, as the disease deteriorates, the surgical route turns into a pressing and vital need.

What is Arthroscopy

Arthroscopy is considered as a less invasive surgery in arthritis treatment. The procedure consists of fixing cartilage tissue and ligament damage in the knee and the other joints. In an arthroscopy surgery, a small device resembling an endoscope will be inserted in the afflicted region via a small incision.

Despite the fact that the efficacy of arthroscopy remains a point of contention, most proponents confirm the benefits efficiency of the procedure when used in relevant scenarios.

Telltale signs that an individual needs arthroscopy of the knee include the following: excruciating knee pops, instability of the knee joint or wobbling of the knee, a prickling pain when moving the knee joint, and inflammation or swelling of the afflicted areas.

Better Option for Younger Patients: Knee Osteotomy

In the case of younger individuals, these arthritis sufferers only commonly experience degradation of just one area of the knee joint. For this reason, they are not encouraged to undergo complete knee replacement surgery.

In some cases, arthritis also manifests as knock-legged or bow-legged cases, which are characterized by a joint reorientation, such that the weight center is transferred from its damaged region to its healthy region. In such instances, osteotomy is usually the best option.

What is Partial Knee Replacement Surgery

Called a “hybrid” of both osteotomy and complete knee replacement surgery, the procedure known as partial knee replacement surgery is to a large extent less invasive than complete knee replacement surgery. The surgery is executed through replacing the degraded area of the afflicted articulation with prosthetics, as the healthy areas are left alone to allow for healing. This procedure is advised for severe cases of arthritis confined to specific portions of articulation. Compared to complete knee replacement, this surgical procedure requires smaller cuts and calls for faster period of recovery.

Complete Knee Replacement Surgery: A Practical Option

For a number of arthritic patients, the most sensible option is complete knee replacement surgery. This type of procedure consists of the complete removal and replacement of the injured joint tissue with metal or plastic prosthetic components.

Potential Risks of Arthritis Knee Surgery

Like a good number pf major surgeries, patients who have undergone arthritis knee surgery have the potential to develop thrombosis, nerve damage, infections and various anesthesia risks.

Additionally, this procedure includes certain post-surgery risks, such as instability of the affected joint, kneecap dislocation/fracture, and even decreased mobility or reduced range of motion.

Arthritis Knee Surgery: Pros and Cons

Regardless of the potential risks connected to the surgical procedure, arthritis knee surgery entails lots of pros that may help the arthritis sufferer. The chief benefits are, of course, substantial pain relief, improved mobility, plus a significant betterment of one’s overall wellbeing. Furthermore, in a timeframe of six months subsequent to the surgical procedure, the previously afflicted joint may very well resume its full functionality.

On the other hand, this type of surgical procedure also provides a few perceptible cons. For example, patients may possibly experience soreness and discomfort in the period of time after the surgical procedure. Moreover, using a prosthetic joint may be noisy and may draw some attention. In some cases, movement difficulties may potentially arise. Similarly, depending on the prosthetic type used, the fake knee may have limited usability, such as only 10 to 15 years before a new replacement knee is needed.

That being said, however, if we weigh the discomfort manifested in a few cases against the huge potential for successful post-surgery results, it is fairly easy to conclude that the pros of this type of surgery certainly exceed its cons.

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid are two of the most prevalent forms of arthritis, and knowing the difference between the two is important.

by Amy Clark

Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid are two of the most prevalent forms of arthritis, and knowing the difference between the two is important.

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is more prevalent, afflicting numerous people across the globe. Rheumatoid Arthritis is chiefly an inflammatory condition affecting the tissue of the joints. After a while, the inflammation can extend to the major organs of the human body and may even progress into a debilitating condition.

In recent years, scientists have attempted to document the cause of RA, but the specific cause has not been discovered. At present, it is assumed that the cause is a genetic factor which predisposes an individual to this disease. Specific environmental factors are also deemed to set off its symptoms.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) can be treated with certain drugs, such as NSAIDs or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and DMARDs (disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs), both of which can be prescribed by your doctor. Examples of such drugs are Enbrel, Methotrexate, Celebrax, Arava, among others. While these medications have been proven to be effective, it is also imperative to remember that these drugs will at times cause adverse side effects that can exacerbate rather than improve a patient’s overall condition.

Osteoarthritis (OA)

Osteoarthritis (OA) commonly affects older people, for the reason that osteoarthritis is caused primarily by the wear and tear of the joints triggered by the aging process. In OA, the water component of the cartilage is increased, whereas the protein component diminishes. Constant stress or use of the joints, like getting joint injury or gaining weight, can also trigger this condition. In addition, certain factors as infections of the joint, hormonal disorders, diabetes, pregnancy, for example, can set off OA. Treatment methods can vary from prescribed local injections of hyaluronan and glucocorticoid to joint replacement surgeries.

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis: Symptoms

The symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis & Osteoarthritis can help patients learn the distinction between these 2 forms of arthritis.

If two sides of the joint are affected, plus there is joint swelling or reddening (i.e. inflammation), it is most probably RA. In such cases, the person usually experiences some fever, fatigue, and a sensation of stiffness throughout the entire body for fifteen minutes or more. Some forms of vasculitis, a condition affecting the veins and arteries, may also develop in response to RA. Further, rheumatoid arthritis patients have greater risk for heart attack or a stroke.

Also widespread in rheumatoid arthritic sufferers are renal amyloidosis and fibrosis of the lungs. Kidney and lung inflammations are direct or indirect targets of RA.

Conversely, OA would not affect the organs of the human body. In the majority of cases, OA only occurs as a result of the aging process.

It is important for arthritis sufferers to distinguish between rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Knowing what type of arthritis you suffer from will you lead to to obtain the appropriate treatment for your particular condition. Of course, visiting a doctor is advised for an accurate diagnosis and applicable treatment. Your medical doctor will be able to prescribe the necessary form of treatment and thus help in your recovery. If you feel some side effects from using prescription drugs, contact your doctor right away.
