How To Profit From A Salon Focus Group

Focus groups help you gain customer feedback from new customers and existing customers. The customer feedback you receive will prove to be an invaluable and informative source in order for you to develop a long term, effective service strategy for your customers at the hair salon.
A marketing group should consist of about ten people brought together for a mutual discussion, where specific questions will be asked. A focus group should be flexible, where individuals can respond to questions directly or provide answers that may lead to lengthy discussions amongst others members in the group. Both types of input will offer invaluable insight to how you can improve the overall image, environment and customer service at the nail salon.
The moderator of such a focus group must have knowledge of the beauty industry in order to better facilitate responses from the group. He or she must also be able to keep the group on track without being rigid. When the right moderator is found, potential customers and regulars are invited to join the focus group. These customers should be made up of your target clientele, as only the type of clientele you expect to serve will be able to give you the insights to your business that you need.
In order to get the detailed information you need, you must ask the right questions. Take some time to sit down and think about questions you want answers to, such as, the quality of the experience a customer has, and of the services they received, what their impression are of the staff, the salon itself, and what they would like to see changed or brought in. During the group discussion, you should take copious notes and/or make an audio recording of the session for future reference. Write down everything, including criticisms.
And, finally, don’t forget to thank your focus group members. They have helped you and your salon in a huge way, so make sure they know you appreciate their input!
