Get Healthier by Working Green Tea into Your Diet
Written by Gerald McConway on September 17th, 2009It seems as though everyone likes their hot coffee or tea in the morning, but at what cost? It gets very confusing as studies continue to come out saying that they are healthy and then unhealthy. While some of these results can be confusing, one morning drink that has never had anything bad said about it is green tea.
For years, people have been picking this beverage apart and they have found what other cultures have known for centuries, greed tea is very good for you. It is mentioned as an aid in fighting things like cancer, heart disease, diabetes and as a weight loss aid. When you look at all of these benefits, it is hard not to sit up and take notice.
One of the reasons that green tea is so popular amongst the health advocates is because it is loaded with antioxidants. These antioxidants are what are known to fight against cancer. The same can be said for certain fruits, such as blueberries, that are always recommended to be a part of everyone’s diet.
Something else to consider about green tea is that it has been proven to help in weight loss. Studies have been conducted with the only difference being the addition to green tea and when compared to the control group, these candidates have lost significantly more weight. Because of this benefit, it is also helpful in reducing bad cholesterol, preventing diabetes and some heart conditions as well.
If you are not a morning beverage person or prefer something like orange juice to get your day going, there are still ways to get green tea into your diet. One alternative is to actually take supplements that contain green tea, but then you never know what else you are getting with that. This will make many hesitant and with some of the reports that have come to light recently, you cannot blame them.
Iced tea is something that for some reason people do not automatically associate with green tea. They are so used to seeing it promoted as a diet supplement or served as a hot drink, that this never crosses their mind. It is a big mistake and iced green tea is not only refreshing, but very healthy as well.
If you like your iced tea flavored or sweet, try brewing it with some fruit added. This will add some great flavor and if that isn’t enough and you need it sweeter, try adding a natural sweetener to it instead of loading it up with sugar. Stevia is a great alternative for this. Now go get your glass of green tea and get healthy!
