The knee joint is essential to mobility and losing that mobility can severely put a hinderence on quality of life.

The knee joint is the largest and most complex joint’s in the body. Its proper location and functionality affects almost any basic movement as well as essential and advanced operations. Understanding how the knee works and what is the cause of the pain can help you understand how to protect your knee and nurse the joint back to health.

Knee pain is often a warning sign that something is happening in the joints . In teens and young adults , knee pain may be due to a wrong session, particularly overload, and severe injuries during intense exercise (ball games, etc) . In adults , the pain may be a sign of tissue degredation in the knee’s structure and signaling of degenerative processes of the knee’s cartilage .

What can you do to keep you knees in working order?
To maintain healthy joints, especially in the knee , it is highly suggested to take the following preventative actions such as:
• Low body mass index – being overweight might accelerate the erosion of the cartilage.
• Ensure you have good shoes with support – use insoles that support high arches or flat feet, this will ensure your weight is distrubuted more evenly .

• Young people need to coordinate their activity with their physiological limitations : not all people are built to the same ! Various trends do not necessarily suit for everyone.
• Avoid “sudden sports” , what is called the ‘weekend warrior’ . Mainly, mature adults are playing soccer, basketball, softball and such on a Sunday is not going to cause knee pain , however , running a marathon after five years of a sedemintery lifestyle of not doing any kind of activity can be a bad idea . As a person ages , the muscle maintenance, flexibility and endurance are the main components of the daily activity menu.

Three steps to knee health success:

• Make sure you heat and stretch the muscles before and after every physical activity.
• Start slow – Overloading the joints is one of the most common causes of pain, and overexertion happens when someone participates in non-stop activity. Too much running is a great example of this.
• Work on strengthening the knees and surrounding muscles – the core muscles is the muscle group around the knee that plays a primary role of the knee and ankle stability. Building muscle mass, especially for those with little muscle mass will act as a dampening method to place less stress on the knee itself.

If the knee ligaments, muscle, or knee cap is beyond natural repair the only form of relief may come in the form of surgery.

Among young people who suffer from chronic knee problems, the best immediate remedy is rest. Chronic pain or long-term pain   should be diagnosed and treated accordingly .

Knee pain is common amongst the elderly , the primary reason is erosion of the joints, or, osteoarthritis .

Osteoarthritis recommendations :

• Unlike teens , mature adults should adapt their phsyical labors and excercise routines to their health status , adults need to coordinate their limitations . “No pain no gain” should be called “No pain, wait until tomorrow!”  Avoid over exertion and stick to low impact cardio and weight training that places very little stress, if any at all, on the joints and especially the knee’s

However , natural joint pain relief may come in the form of glucosamine or liquid glucosamine which has many healing elements that are specific to joint pain and knee cartiladge repair that (with a combination of other vitamins and minerals) may actually combat joint pain degeneration.
