Womens Fitness
Written by Helen Carswell on December 27th, 2009Most of the women in the US who are overweight didn’t get that way on purpose. They are multi-tasking and have a busy lifestyle that doesn’t allow time to work on themselves. Occasionally we may try a diet that we read about, or we may try to make time to exercise. But, for the most part, we are too busy and have to many commitments to stop our lives and focus on our health. If we take a look at the womens fitness bases that keep us healthy and active, we are missing a few bases.
Most people are aware that diets don’t work. This is especially true when a person is on the run most of the day taking care of other people. Many of us have tried different diet and exercise programs and stopped after a few weeks when we became tired and run down or found that it was just too much of a hassle to go to an working out program on a regular basis. However, there are ways to start a healthier approach without jumping into a program that we know won’t work.
If a healthy lifestyle were the focus instead of weight loss dieting and working out would be much easier. By focusing on our health and not counting calories or going to a gym people will generally lose weight as they become healthier. The lifestyle modification will require a dedication and a plan. But, it will be much easier than a rigid diet program.
Starting a journal with our important information in it will be a great way to gage progress. Putting in actual weight, BMI, what we eat, how much we eat, and energy we are currently use will give a complete picture of where we are. From this picture it is simple to set a plan into motion to change it.
Weighing yourself each day is not needed when you are on a healthy diet and working out program. As you exercise you will build muscle mass. The muscle weighs more than fat so the scales may not reveal the changes that are going on in the body. As the muscles gain strength you will see that the fat is vanishing even if the scale does not agree.
Starting an exercise program that will work up to 30 minutes a day will help you to stick with it. By starting off with a fifteen minute walk to the corner and back, you can gradually build up to thirty minute walks. When walking is not a challenge any more move to jogging. Each time that the thirty minute exercising becomes less of a challenge do something different.
When most folks think about a diet, they relate it with not eating anything good. The brain will throw up all kinds of obstacles when a person consciously goes on a diet . For many people the withdrawal felt in the first few days of a diet are enough to make them give up. So instead of putting a halt to eating the good stuff, just start replacing snacks with a healthy alternative. By cutting back on meal consumption and eating healthy snacks you have taken the biggest step to a healthy diet.
Eating 5 meals a day will keep you from getting hungry at any time during the day. Making the two extra meals healthy and cutting down on the portions of the other three meals, you will be on your way to a healthy diet. As you begin to feel better, start switching out the bad foods for healthy alternatives. Once a person is on the way to touching all of the womens fitness bases they quickly begin to feel better in both the body and mind. By beginning a new and healthier lifestyle, many people find that they can make changes easily with no major disruptions to their lives and schedule.
